Floor Coatings for Dallas-Fort Worth Homes

North Texas sits on Blackland Prairie clay, some of the most expansive soil in the country. It swells through spring rain and shrinks through summer drought, and the slab above it moves with it. Add garage surface temperatures well past 100°F and hot tires pulling in off the highway, and you have two of the most common reasons coatings fail here.

We install a system built to move with the slab rather than crack across it, and to hold up under heat that softens ordinary epoxy. Garages, patios, walkways, and interior floors across the Metroplex.

Quartz Color Options

For driveways, patios and other high-traffic surfaces we broadcast quartz to full rejection over a base coat — a finish tough enough for snowplows, RV weight and grill heat, and easily matched to your existing concrete.

Why Coatings Fail on North Texas Slabs

Dallas clay can gain or lose a substantial share of its volume between a wet spring and a dry August. That movement transfers straight into the concrete above it, which is why so many DFW garages develop cracks that were not there when the house was built. Any coating bonded to that slab has to accommodate the same movement.

This is where rigid systems come apart. Standard epoxy has very little give. When the slab shifts, the coating cannot follow it, so it crazes, then lifts at the crack edges, and once moisture gets under the edge it spreads. Homeowners usually blame the product. More often the product was simply never built to flex.

Heat is the second failure point, and it is specific to this climate. A south-facing Dallas garage regularly runs past 100°F ambient, with the slab surface hotter still. Standard epoxy softens at those temperatures, and a softened coating grips a hot tire hard enough that pulling out of the garage lifts patches of it away. That is hot tire pickup, and it is one of the most common complaints on coated floors in this region.

Our system answers both. It has 120% elongation, so it stretches with a moving slab rather than fracturing across it, and it bonds at 100% adhesion so there is no edge for moisture to work under. It is hot tire resistant and rated for continuous service to 200°F, well beyond anything a Texas summer produces. It is UV stable, so patios and areas near an open door hold their color instead of yellowing.

Installation is fast, which matters when the garage is the main way into the house. Most floors need only a broom-sweep prep, though some require mild grinding or sanding, and the finished floor is ready for full use in 24 hours. The basecoat is zero-VOC and odor-free, so nothing lingers in an attached garage.

We work across Dallas-Fort Worth on garage floors, patios, walkways, and steps, and interior surfaces, finished in any of 250+ color and flake combinations. Residential installations carry our residential limited lifetime warranty.
